What excites you? (Role purpose)
Reporting to the Operational Claims Director (Chair of Claims, in the interim) the Governance, Control and Audit Manager will:
• lead and manage a team of two
• be responsible for ensuring that the activities of Key Claims are compliant with relevant prevailing laws, regulations and industry standards including Conduct, TCF and impending Consumer Duty regulations
• be responsible for ensuring that the activities of Key Claims are governed appropriately with appropriate strategic oversight through to ensuring controls are in place and are operating effectively to manage key risks within board approved risk appetites
• oversee the Key Claims complaints process
• co-ordinate the internal/external audit and review process
• develop training material to ensure that standards and processes are consistently applied and to reinforce and underline excellence in claims handling
• work alongside peers to develop the Key Claims vision, strategy and operating pulse
• report in a systematic way on all of the above to the Key Claims Exec, the Key Claims Board and Abacai governance forums
What you’ll be doing: (Key Accountabilities)
People Management
• manage day to day operation of team dealing with resource planning
• continually develop team member’s skills and personal development through documented coaching and mentoring to ensure a career path and colleague retention
• to monitor the team on a daily basis to ensure SLAs are met and individuals are working within agreed parameters
• assist with the selection and recruitment of staff
Technical
• to develop and maintain a compliance matrix of all prevailing laws and regulations with which Key Claims must comply, with details of processes and reporting that are in place – and, where appropriate, details of controls which ensure compliance – to do so
• to develop and maintain a Conduct matrix with which Key Claims must comply, with details of processes and reporting that are in place – and, where appropriate, details of controls which ensure compliance – to do so
• to independently review complaints against Key Claims, and where required, manage FOS escalations; undertake an annual complaints review to ascertain areas for improvement within the claims department
• to conduct fair and reasonable internal audits and provide feedback to the business on training issues and areas for improvement, both in the regular departmental audit and in the regular informal handler audits undertaken year-round
• to conduct fair and reasonable external supplier audits and give realistic feedback to the supplier and to Mulsanne in order to maintain or improve our working relationship and practices
• to deliver internal training where required (e.g. data protection, whistleblowing, anti-money laundering)
• to deliver external training to suppliers where required (eg indemnity, liability)
• to maintin the Claims Handling Manual to ensure that it reflects the desired handling processes and controls
• to monitor and report on rejected BACS claims payments on a monthly basis
• to monitor and report on cancelled claims on a monthly basis
• to monitor sanctions checks for over £25k payments to individuals on a monthly basis
• to perform random internal text letters checks monthly for layout, grammar and spelling etc – if printed letters are sent
• to reply to/be a referral point for GDPR Subject Access Requests

* Minimum five years motor claims experience
* Prior experience in Insurance regulation, compliance, Conduct and Audit
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Analytical and meticulous
* Self motivated with a willingness to learn
* Organised with the ability to multi task and work to tight deadlines
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft package

Our Process:
We follow 4 stages in our selection process
• Initial call with Bev Corrigan our VP of Talent Acquisition
• Technical interview with the hiring manager(s). This consists of a case study review where you present back a project that you have been tasked to work on.
• Psychometric assessment. This test is something we use to help us prepare for your onboarding, making sure we know your strengths as well as areas we can help you develop
• Founder interview. You will meet with our Co-Founder Colin Price
