Research & Policy Officer

Missing People’s policy and research team is a small team but we have a big impact, both within the charity and externally. As well as providing research, monitoring and evaluation for the charity, we aim to create local, regional and national change in the response to missing people. We work in an evidence-based way, centring the experiences of those who have been or are affected by missing.

You will play a vital role in helping us to understand the issue of missing and engage with people affected by missing. You will support colleagues across Missing People by providing access to the information they need to deliver their roles.

You will help us to develop our work ensuring that those with experience of being missing are at the heart of what we do as a team and an organisation. You will work on projects which will have direct impact and often involve direct contact with people who have lived experience of the issue of missing to help create local, regional and national change in the response to missing people, We help ensure that police and other organisations are supporting missing people and their families in the best way possible.

You will need experience in:

• supporting or undertaking consultation or engagement. This might include interviews, focus groups, ongoing engagement activities, and surveys
• using Excel to analyse data, including cleaning data, and using pivot tables
• creating communications outputs for different audiences, for example the general public, policy makers, front line practitioners, and internal colleagues
• experience and/or awareness of good practice engaging with research with participants from diverse or marginalised communities and/or service user groups

and abilities, skills and knowledge of:

• missing or linked issues, for example mental health, children living in care, exploitation, homelessness, children and adult social care
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Qualitative and quantitative analysis skills
• Intermediate Excel , able to use pivot tables and a range of formulae
• Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal, in writing and in presentations
• Ability to communicate complex information to different audiences, and confident in communicating information that might challenge existing perceptions and perspectives

Location: Mortlake, South West London (flexible working considered)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 35 per week. Some out of hours work required. Flexible working considered
Salary: £25,000 per annum
