Job Description

Supporting revolutionary concepts in naval architecture and design our client is now seeking a CFD Specialist.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a high-tech knowledge area at the core of our design and engineering process. The CFD specialist in ship design will engage in: execution, coordination, coaching, development, planning and structuring.

By developing, recording and implementing working methods and procedures within our engineering scope, you provide more knowledge and grip on the following CFD sub-areas:

Resistance simulation;
Appendage and trim wedge optimization;
Wakefield analysis and optimization (for propeller design);
Hull shape optimization;
Screw simulation and analysis;
Wind climate simulation and analysis;
Exhaust and flue gas analysis;
Helicopter landing analysis;
Specific R&D studies for which CFD can be used.

Within the project team you are in continuous contact with the Naval Architect to support him/her in providing essential information regarding the ship design. You coordinate the CFD scope across multiple projects and are excellent at planning and prioritizing. You will also coach a more junior CFD colleague, possibly supervise trainees, maintain contacts with external bodies and contribute to the development of the development agenda.

Carrying out a wide range of assignments, including advice, solution or design, for which specific knowledge and expertise in the specialist field of CFD is required. The focus is on analysing and solving unique issues. To do this, you collect information, make concrete agreements and report on the findings, and you communicate this to all interested parties. You also make a realistic time schedule, set priorities and work on a project basis. You act as a knowledge carrier for CFD, keep this knowledge and expertise up to date and follow new developments.

Based in the Netherlands, the role will come with a strong salary and benefits package. Preference will be given to those already living and working in NL, but the employer will also consider those from elsewhere in Europe or indeed outside of the Eurozone
