Job Description
Role: Controls Planner (Inside IR35)
Location: Oxford
Full time: 40 hours weekly
Duration: Ending December 2022 (likely to be for 12 months with extensions)
Rate: Up to £28.83p/h Ltd/Umb DOE
We require a Controls Planner (SST) for our client in Oxford, who will be responsible for the control systems engineering, planning, installation, commissioning, acceptance, support and optimization for facilities and conveyors. Also, the system architecture and interfaces with the relevant IT systems, this should include feasibility analysis. Performance calculation, value of the benefits, cost and investment analysis, budget planning, steering of the project stakeholders, working together with suppliers, internal and external partners, and other relevant interfaces.
You will have complete control for the engineered implementation as the project manager of controls systems and how the systems integrate together; following structures to create new products, and then monitoring production to ensure the project life cycle completes as expected/required. Ensuring all meetings, suppliers software interface and reviews are satisfactory, ensuring detailed project planning (after awarding of contract) for the construction of functions and dimensioning of electrics and controls.
As the Controls Project Manager your duties will include:
Creating detailed concept for control technology incl. control technology for process facilities.
Invitation to tender for electronic and control incl. process planning. Common creation of tender corporately with the facility technicians and process planners. Responsible for the content of general electrical implementation and control engineered process. Delivery of standard documents to the suppliers (sample-Eplan, RPA-Software)
Description of controls configuration.
Agreement of the quantities (i.e., number of drives, HMI’s, controls, functional groups etc.)
Determining the electrical components on the basis of best practice contracts and the design guidelines of assembly.
Determining the system-side interfaces to neighbouring systems. Determining the IT-interfaces to higher-level shopfloor systems and to neighbouring assembly sections.
Determining the electrical supply and the technical data integration into the production network.
Determination of the safety devices in cooperation with suppliers.
Working together with the suppliers during the project planning and design phase. Working together with the suppliers during facility set-up incl. pre-acceptance at the supplier.
Preparation of the plant shut-down phase (PU planning) together with the facility technician and/ or process planner. Supporting the start-up after PU (shutdown).
Organizing trainings for operators and maintenance.
Ensuring functionality by means of specific stress tests during commissioning.
Removal of errors and LOP points together with the facility technician or process planners.
As the Controls Engineeryou should have the following skills and competencies:
Automation Engineering (essential)
Controls and automation experience
Project experience, ideally management
PLC programming, ideally with Siemens equipment
Siemens knowledge and experience
Robot automation (ABB is desirable)
