Job Description

Job Title: Head of Global Trade Compliance

Location(s): Hybrid working and must be able to get to one of our sites – Harlow, Glenrothes, Livingston, Manchester, or Gloucester

Hours: 37 hours (we adopt a flexible working model and welcome discussions around flexible working arrangements; many of our team work in different ways including compressed hours, part time and alternate days off)

Summary of Role:

The Head of Global Trade Compliance reports to the Head of Global Trade for Raytheon Systems Limited and Raytheon ELCAN and is a key member of the legal function leadership team. This position is responsible for: creating and delivering a compliance strategy for Global Trade; leading the Global Trade compliance programme for RSL and ELCAN; and collaborating with stakeholders to drive a culture of compliance excellence.

Main Duties/ Objectives:

* Drive compliance risk management strategies by working with colleagues to ensure that export and import activities are conduced in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, company policies and best practice

* Deliver a regular audit and control testing programme and utilise the data to devise action plans and inform continuous improvement

* Provide consistent, pragmatic, and clear advice on all aspects of Global Trade compliance to the wider Legal function and business

* Lead investigations and draft disclosures where required

* Monitor regulatory and policy developments and create training and communications

* Develop relationships with business leads, the wider RTX Global Trade team and regulatory agencies

* Supervise other compliance specialists within the Global Trade compliance team, conduct prompt reporting, direct and monitor remedial actions and assist in implementing company policies and procedures

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

* Experience as a compliance professional or as a UK qualified solicitor in a private practice and/ or in-house legal team

* Subject matter expert in UK customs, import and export control laws and regulations with a sound knowledge of US ITAR and EAR regulations

* Understanding of the relationships among the parts of UK government responsible for export licensing, policy and enforcement

* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft substantive reports within strict deadlines

* Well-organized, with meticulous attention to detail

* Integrity and sound judgment, with a strong team orientation

* Leadership, analytical, and motivational skills — a pro-active strategic planner, critical thinker, decision-maker, and problem solver

* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally, and build relationships and networks

* Ability to obtain and maintain a MoD security clearance

* Familiarity with work in a global context, and ability to travel abroad on occasions

Desirable:

* Prior experience working as part of a global team

* Interest in defence and aerospace industry
