Job Description
Senior Engineer in Highway Maintenance to design, manage, supervise programmes of major footway, resurfacing and minor drainage works
This post is located in the Highway Maintenance Team. You will be required to take a lead role in the development and delivery of a multi-million pound capital programme of carriageway and footway works and support the Team Manager in a wider range of highway maintenance responsibilities. You would also be expected to provide support and guidance to other Council staff particularly to highways officers.
You will be a very experienced highway engineer with a detailed knowledge and understanding of highway and public safety legislation, statutory duties and practice, as well as detailed technical knowledge of engineering, including analytical methods, technical standards and methodologies, design principles and techniques.
You will be required to have considerable experience in managing contractors including that of cost control and site supervision.
You will also have experience in report preparation and presentation to other officers, Committees and other public gatherings and the ability to deal effectively with concerns of elected Members and the public.
You will need to possess good team and people skills to develop strong working relationships and deliver services and performance in a highly pressured working environment
