Job Description & Person Specification

Job Title: Industrial Automation and IT Engineer

Reporting To: Maintenance and Reliability Manager

PURPOSE OF ROLE

1. JOB PURPOSE

To manage or perform the activities required to maintain and improve the site Industrial Automation Control Systems (IACS) and to manage the site IT network and equipment in collaboration with the Groups corporate IT department based in Italy.

Provide first level support to Operations and liaise with the external contractor for the implementation of changes to the Distributed Control System (DCS) and to the site Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Ensure that the changes requested by the Engineering and by the Project departments are properly implemented by the DCS supplier, both under the software and hardware point of view.

Organize and perform the required troubleshooting and management activities for the site IT network and machines, including Cyber Security projects and activities.

Demonstrate the ability to identify and report problems. Assist in actions for continuous improvement.

Be flexible in your approach to duties in accordance with the requirements of the business.

2. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-EXHAUSTIVE)

2.1. Manage and support the IACS operations and the IT area.

2.2. Hardware (including IACS, peripherals, UPS, switches, telephones, etc.) and software installation, configuration, and management.

2.3. First level Helpdesk user support and troubleshooting.

2.4. Manage server and network infrastructure under direction from THE Groups corporate IT department.

2.5. Coordinate the activities of the DCS and PLC contractors.

2.6. Pro-active member of the Cyber Security Working Group.

2.7. Maintain network diagrams and equipment register.

2.8. Monitoring and re-ordering of equipment, including obtaining quotes, placing orders, and supervising work.

2.9. Ensure the housekeeping standards of working areas meet the Company requirements.

2.10. Perform other tasks within the level of responsibility and ability as required by Management from time to time.

5. PREREQUISITES, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

5.1. BSc. in Industrial Automation, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

5.2. Previous practical experience and proficiency with PLC and DCS systems is a must.

5.3. Familiarity with industrial instrumentation (Emerson, Endress+Hauser).

5.4. Network administration and troubleshooting.

5.5. Windows Server 2008 onward.

5.6. Windows Active Directory, including Azure knowledge is a plus.

5.7. Knowledge of PowerShell script language and VMware vSphere environment is a plus.

5.8. Windows 10, Office 365 administration, MS Exchange knowledge is a plus.

5.9. Knowledge of the main concepts of IT security, preferably Cyber Security elements such as "HSE OG86 – Cyber Security for Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS)".

5.10. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbal.

5.11. Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
