Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to lead, develop and oversee all internal communications campaigns within the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Working closely with the Chief Executive to translate her vision, you will create attractive content to keep our employees engaged and in the know. This role is designed for someone who is creative and wants the autonomy to implement their own ideas, within a forward-thinking, fast paced organisation. You will be based at the heart of the organisation, in the Communications team working closely with the Chief Executive and with other teams across the organisation.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement an internal communications and employee engagement strategy
* Develop and manage a corporate programme of internal communications activity by working proactively with colleagues across the business to identify key dates, campaigns, programmes and milestones for communications activities
* Lead on the strategic planning, compilation and delivery of internal communications, campaigns and promotions, including news, features, emails and posters
* Monitor and evaluate communications channels and activity and adapt plans and strategies as required
* Work in close strategic partnership with the corporate communications team and design team to ensure major communications campaigns, events and initiatives are delivered effectively to internal audiences
* Project manage internal communications events as required
* Lead a wide range of multi-channel campaigns for key internal audiences, from initial research and planning, briefing to the launch, delivery and evaluation of campaign elements
* Demonstrate proactive leadership to teams across the WMCA to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal stakeholders
* Promote the use of the intranet as the key internal communication channel for staff, and support its further development as is the ‘go to’ source of organisational information for employees

About you
We are looking for someone with strong experience in delivering proficient internal communications within a complex organisation and who understands the importance of robust strategies, forward planning and effective engagement tools. You will need to be creative, innovative and hands on – this is a role that blends high level strategic skills with the need to crack on and get things done quickly. You will need the ability to advise, influence, and co-ordinate.
It is essential that you have strong written and verbal communication and have experience of stakeholder management. We need someone who is resilient, self-motivated and has a positive and influencing attitude. It would be desirable if you have experience of using intranet platforms such as Invotra although this isn’t essential.
