Full Time Teaching Assistant – SEN Experience
Location: Lichfield
Start date: September 2022
Duration: Long-term, ongoing role
Rate of pay: £70 -£85 per day

What kind of Teaching Assistant are we looking to hire?
We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and professional individual, to begin a new classroom-based role at a Pupil Referral Unit in Lichfield. Your role as a teaching assistant will be to support the class teacher. You will also be required to assist students who require additional help within the classroom, by providing 1:1 support as well as group work. The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who can ideally work full-time, but part-time candidates will also be considered in some circumstances.

Can you tell me more about the role?
The school in question is a Special Educational Needs School, who aim to provide a secure environment where the individual needs of students are recognised and catered for. The school places a special emphasis on the individual progression of each child and offers a wide range of varied learning opportunities. Your role will involve the day-to-day running of small intervention groups and 1:1 sessions within the class, as well as working in line with other teaching assistants & class teachers, to ensure appropriate strategies are put in place. You will be supporting pupils aged within Key Stage 2 and above, the pupils attend this setting as a result of being permanently excluded from Mainstream school, these pupils will require staff to be patient, good listeners, understanding of their individual needs and some knowledge of de-escalation.
Do I need any qualifications?
A Level 3 qualification in Education would be preferred but is not always necessary. However, it is important that you have prior experience.
You will also need a full DBS check before you start the role. If you already have one, great! If you don’t, don’t worry – I can help with the process of acquiring a new one.
