Job Description

An Ofsted rated 'Good' school based in Somerset is looking to appoint an additional member of the MFL department from September 2022. The school has celebrated recent success in raising standards by promoting their core values, boosting students' abilities to be active learners who are enthusiastic, critical thinkers determined to succeed.

The School:

This oversubscribed school is located in South Somerset and caters for children aged 11-16
Proven track record and consistent improvement in GCSE results
97% of students post KS4 stay in education or go straight into employment
The school has recently embarked on a significant rebuild programme
Participate in a wide range of activities outside of the classroom including sports, music, drama, arts and Duke of Edinburgh award scheme
Aims and objectives are evident in everyday life at the school The Role:

Starting September 2022, working Tuesday/Thursday/Friday week A and Monday/Friday week B
For full time, the timetable can be topped up with general cover
Teach mainly French lessons up to GCSE with additional possibility to teach Spanish
Monitor and assess student progress, feeding back to the department and to parents
Lessons and assessment will be required to meet the Edexcel GCSE framework The Ideal Candidate will:

Have strong subject knowledge in French (and Spanish) at a KS3 and GCSE level
Have a vision of changing children's lives by developing a love of MFL
Use appropriate and effective classroom management techniques to promote best practice
Keep up-to-date with the GCSE French and Spanish curriculum, developing strong pedagogy in this area
Have excellent communication skills
Hold a relevant teaching qualification
Be strong in behaviour management, enabling the best learning environments in the classroom How to apply:
