Job Description
Are you a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer looking to join a well-established company based in Southampton?!
My client who are world leaders within Marine Electronics are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer- Enclosures.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide the mechanical design team with architectural direction in all development activities. You will be responsible for taking the technical aspects of a project from concept to manufacture.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities for Principal Mechanical Design Engineer – Enclosures:
Provide expertise to mechanical aspects of all development projects
Ensure selection of appropriate methods and technologies for product design
Ensure the mechanical designs will deliver the correct level of functionality and performance in a cost-effective way
Reviewing designs, components and material selections
Support the development as necessary
Encourage cross-functional work and provide adequate support to multi-disciplinary teams.
Maintain strong departmental and inter-departmental communications and ensure that all concerned are aware of the impact of mechanical design decisions
Keep abreast of emerging technologies, materials, technical obsolescence, changes in design practices and tools
Job Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Design Engineer – Enclosure:
BSc or above in mechanical engineering
Injection Moulding
Sand / Die Casting
Compression moulding
Enclosure Design
Experience of 3D CAD tools
SolidWorks
