Akton recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a Residential Worker to join the team at Action for children.
Job Role – Residential Worker
Our vision is that every child and young person in the country has a safe and happy childhood. To help us achieve this, the role will:
Assess, care plan, review and providing a 24/7 care service, in line with regulatory requirements and organisational policy and procedure to achieve positive outcomes for individual children and young people and contributing to the achievement of an outstanding, good or equivalent rating in external inspection.
Action for Children protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives. To help us achieve this, the role will:
1. Take a lead with case/care planning management for individual children or young people, undertaking assessment of need, developing a care plan and identifying agreed outcomes and carrying out regular review in conjunction with children, young people and their families and other professionals.
2. Lead and work on shifts with accountability for service delivery, assessing and managing risks, deploying staff and resources accordingly while on the shift and to maintain personalised high quality care that is outcome focused for children and young people and apply agreed organisational procedures to ensure the safe care and management of children and young people in our care.
3. Supervise, guide or direct staff and volunteers where required and provide mentoring to newly appointed staff
4. Support children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with Action for Children's policy and procedures and regulatory requirements.
5. Build and maintain professional positive working relationships by providing emotional and social support to children and young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties.
Important Information
£13.32ph (Umbrella Rate)
We would ideally like candidates who are able to work up to 30 hours per week, 3 waking night shifts on a variety of nights a week
The candidates will be required to work in a residential children's home for children and young people with disabilities aged 5 to 18.
The candidates will be required to engage the young people in activities both in the home and outside. For example, accompanying children and young people on trips to the park etc.
The candidates will be required to assist some children and young people with personal care. For example, provide assistance with bathing and dressing.
The candidates will be on duty with long term permanent residential workers
