About the role:
The Head of Product Marketing role is integral in an energetic product focused team, within Marketing. This role exists to drive significant growth of Vitality car insurance. We’ve taken a unique approach to our car insurance by rewarding drivers for driving well and for car-free days. We are transforming car insurance from a grudge purchase into an engaging experience.
The role will work with the Marketing Director to develop the marketing strategy and go-to-market plans for all distribution channels and audiences. This will be achieved through understanding the market and developing effective marketing communication plans and initiatives which in turn are delivered through our specialist teams, the marketing Centres of Excellence. Marketing effectiveness reporting and performance measurement is also a key component of the role.
Your responsibilities as our Head of Product Marketing will include:
Working with the Marketing Director to develop marketing plans, propose budgets, and drive a positive impact on acquisition and retention for Vitality car insurance
Influencing cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with: Sales and distribution to understand and enable sales distribution plans (including campaigns and incentives). Customer management to comprehend and enable retention plans – on an ongoing basis, and for launch periods (go-to-market plans). Technical Marketing to develop market/competitor/member insight. Product Teams to develop and understand product positioning
Subject matter expert in Car insurance
Establishing the appropriate positioning for products and developing approved key messaging
A deep understanding of how a product is sold and the channels they are sold into – Direct and aggregators
Implementation of plans to be achieved through briefing to the specialist marketing teams (brand and campaign, performance marketing, CRM, digital content, sponsorships, servicing) and agencies where appropriate, ensuring frequent progress updates and delivery on budget and on time
Driving action through written documents provided by presentations. For example market strategy document, marketing plan, go-to-market plan and launch plans
Representing Car at all times and with wide audiences to explain the customer-led benefits of the products
What we’re looking for in our Head of Product Marketing:
Ideally university qualified, with a marketing or communications degree
Approx. over ten years of marketing experience
Has experience working in a Car marketing team
D2C marketing experience
Experience in developing “go to market” plans
Experience of working to deliver complex marketing strategies in matrix teams
Experience of managing and delivering multiple projects to tight deadlines
Strong understanding of direct marketing and segmentation skills to define marketing strategy
Building and nurturing relationships with marketing agencies
Regulatory knowledge including championing within teams
Has strong relationship skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment
A self-starter and can hit the ground running
Able to prioritise project delivery and team workloads in line with business requirements
Strong focus on delivering quality
Team player and 'can-do' attitude
Creative flair
Perfect written English and understanding of writing content for different environments

Able to work effectively as part of wider marketing team
