Job Description

Edwards Employment are currently recruiting for a permanent Customer Accounts Assistant for their client who is a well established group of companies specialising in the supply of commercial assets.

Salary – £22,000 – £25,000

This is a homebased role 

Overview:

To generally assist the Customer Accounts Executive and wider credit team with the collection of amounts due from Customers in line with agreed credit terms, maintaining control of debtor’s ledger on individual accounts within the Sales Ledger and debt reduction activities 

Duties:

Assisting in contacting existing account customers in a planned manner, ensuring that payment is received in accordance with the agreed contract terms

Assisting in the planning and processing of all amounts due payable by direct debit, ensuring receipts are recorded and allocated correctly, including the input of new DD mandates onto sales ledger system, liaising with Group Credit Control team at Head Office to aid direct debit processing and cheques, to assist Customer Accounts Executive in the processing of such items

Assisting and ensuring payment receipts by standing order, BACS, cheque or credit/debit card from clients based in the UK and Republic of Ireland are received, recorded and allocated correctly

Reporting any proposed customer payment plans, to the Customer Accounts executive, to ensure repayment of all sums owed on existing deals or finalising deals.

Assisting in identifying and eliminating opportunities for customers to delay payment, advising the Customer Accounts Executive to ensure remedial action is taken in the event that customers are in default

Processing all ‘unpaid items’ relating to Direct Debits, Returned Cheques, and other issues of non-Payment, to be implemented and reported to Managing Director and/or Group Head of Credit

Assisting in the maintenance and tidiness of the sales ledger to ensure accounts are accurate and that debtor ageing and other analysis can be carried out

Assisting with the preparation of reports as advised by Customer Accounts Executive, as required by the Managing Director or Group Head of Credit, or any other member of senior staff

Work methodically, efficiently, accurately and cooperatively to ensure all debts are covered in monthly routines and all administration is completed

Role Requirements:

Excellent telephone manner

Experience of computerised credit control and sales ledger

Excellent planning, organisational, time management, negotiation and administration skills and ability to follow tasks through to a successful conclusion

Methodical, consistent work ethic, with sufficient self-confidence and strength of personality to be able to communicate with adversaries and supporters alike with the ability to liaise successfully with other departments in the business

Experience with Microsoft Office, mainly Excel and Word

Good attitude, self-motivator with sufficient incentive to meet targets set and provide a positive contribution to the performance of the business

Team player with good communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast moving and enthusiastic environment and work with minimal supervision
