Job Description
Caretaker – Broxtowe
This is a full time position (37 Hours) per week.
To undertake a range of Caretaking works in and around tenanted and independent living properties. Duties may include the removal of fly tipping, cleaning of stair wells in communal areas, undertaking minor repairs to properties (handy person level). There may be times where you will be asked to assist other operatives in there day to day activities and act as a second person / Labourer.
Caretaker – Main Duties and Responsibilities.
Carry out regular inspections of designated areas to note dumped rubbish, graffiti, untended gardens abandoned cars, abandoned properties, etc. Take appropriate action to resolve problems.
Liase on a regular basis with , Housing Maintenance Officers and Housing Officers to discuss problems, report defects, etc.
Liase with other Directorates of the Authority and other organisations, as appropriate.
Accompany the Housing Officer/Assistant when carrying out new tenants visits in the first week of the tenancy of resolve any problems and explain the conditions of tenancy.
Undertake minor repairs for tenants.
Operate a tool garden equipment loan service for tenants including minor repairs.
Clean up minor eyesores in communal areas and remove graffiti where appropriate.
Assist with snow clearance and path gritting at the Independent Living schemes and elderly persons accommodation as required.
Carry out light bulb replacements in Independent Living and Housing Schemes.
Encourage tenants to comply with their Tenancy Agreements in respect of rubbish, gardens, general cleanliness etc.
Undertake minor repairs and pre / post inspection of repairs as directed by the Relet Section.
Provide advice and assistance to tenants on any aspect which may be raised.
Assist Housing Officer/Assistant within your patch area to provide a proactive Estate Management service to all residents.
To be responsible for driving, fuelling and overall cleanliness of any vehicle provided – including checking for oil, water, lights, brakes etc.
