Job Description

The CE Marking Association is a well-established and very well-respected organisation that strives to be a leading provider of help, advice, training, product assessment and testing regarding CE marking and product compliance legislation. Due to our on-going success and growth an exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join our expanding team. They are currently looking for a Product Compliance Engineer to develop within the business. This is a permanent role offering fantastic training and progression.

Salary: £35,000 p.a. – £40,000 p.a. + Pension + Benefits

The Role

* To develop specialist skills in electrical safety compliance. In particular Low Voltage Safety, ATEX Safety, Safety Related Parts of Control Systems, Electrical Medical Devices Safety.

* To liaise with clients, suppliers, associates and team members as required

* To work as part of a delivery team

* To deliver technical support for product compliance, mainly in the areas of electrical safety with support for EMC.

* To perform assessments against current EU Legislation and relevant standards

* To consult with clients and produce technical reports

* To keep up-to-date with on-going changes in legislation

* To develop a rounded knowledge of CE Marking

* To work at client’s own premises or in-house

* To keep the team informed of status throughout projects

* To assist with the compilation of Technical Files

* To assist with filtering and answering inbound telephone or email technical enquiries

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives.

The Person

The Product Compliance Engineer will require the following:

* A degree in ELECTRICAL / ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING discipline;

* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the electrical / electronics industry

* A desire to expand their experience into CE marking and product compliance.

* Computer literate and a good working knowledge of MS Office and the Internet is essential.

* Organised with a high attention to detail.

* A clean and current driving licence is required and must be comfortable with travelling

* Must have excellent written and spoken English.

* The candidate will be required to work at client’s premises across the UK.

* The ability to analyse and understand complex technical documentation

* An ability to write clear and concise technical reports

* Good interpersonal skills

* Good communication and presentation skills

* Must be able to work in a team or on own

* Good problem solving and analytical skills

This stimulating and challenging role involves assisting our clients (ranging from innovative one-time inventors to world renowned organisations) with meeting their legal obligations, with a particular focus on the EU Safety & EMC Directives, by assessing their products and the associated documentation. A customer facing and technical role, you will be required to quickly obtain a good understanding of an extensive and ever-changing range of products, to enable you to assess their safety and function, ultimately enabling then to be placed on the EU market.

After a period of on-the-job training, your role as a Product Compliance Engineer will evolve in becoming a key member of the technical team, assessing for safety, EMC, and helping to co-ordinate projects by liaising with clients and delivering training, giving you the opportunity to work on an unrivalled range of innovative products and machines. As your knowledge and expertise grows you will also be expected to take the lead to provide consultancy services to the many members of the CE Marking Association and our commercial clients.
