Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent electrical & instrument craftsperson / mechanic to repair, maintain and calibrate radiation protection instruments and associated equipment within a nuclear environment in Cumbria.
Typical duties include measuring & testing on-site electrical installations, responding to breakdowns, replacing damaged equipment and diagnosing faults with electrical components, circuit boards and sensor detectors.
There will be an element of working both on site and within a workshop environment.
Candidates with any electrical or instrumentation background will be considered.
Candidates have successfully transitioned from military, NHS & manufacturing environments into this role
You will need BPSS clearance before you can get started on site and the end client will help you get this after a successful interview.
A crew bus currently operates to collect local candidates from home address and take them to site for start time. This bus also drops off after shift is finished.
Hours: 37 per week with flexible working arrangements available
Shift Pattern: (Apply online only) (45-minute lunch).
The majority of the team currently work (Apply online only) Monday-Friday and accrue time in lieu
Salary: £36,370 to £38,926 + Benefits (See below)
Occasional overtime is available.
Overtime payable at time and a half during week and double time at weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
To work safely in accordance with all safety, quality, security, environmental and site instructions and requirements
Repair, maintain, calibrate and test Radiation Protection Instruments to ensure customer work demands are met
Work to maintenance instructions and record information accurately
Conform to local procedures, rules and working practices to ensure compliance with specified regulatory and customer requirements
Provide technical advice, updates on work progress and other relevant information to customer as required
Identify improvements and innovations in service provision to enhance the efficiency and quality of service provision. Timely implementation of agreed improvements
Essential Qualifications / Skills:
Apprenticeship or equivalent training in Electronic, Electrical, Instrumentation, Technology fields
Experience of servicing electronic instrument systems

Minimum contribution of 4.5% from employee
Contributions matched by Company up to 7% with further enhancement under review.

Occupational Sick Pay
Up to 5 years service – 6 months full pay
Over 5 years service and up to 10 years service – 9 months full pay
10 + years service – 12 months full pay
