The role: Environment Manager
The purpose of our Environment Manager is to support the development and delivery of the Environment compliance and assurance framework. Reporting into Risk and Assurance Director the role is pivotal in supporting both CBRE and clients Environment Compliance and Management Programmes.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
Supports the RA Director in establishing a proactive environmental management strategy that ensures compliance with all legislation, industry standards and regional requirements
Responsible for management and the translation of CBRE and clients policy into onsite solutions
Act as the CBRE representative on clients Environmental Forums an ensures ownership within the account
Ensures management reporting concerning key routines, environment risk and audit process are conducted on a periodic basis
Maintaining an environmental management system that is certified to ISO 14001
Promotes good environmental compliance practice and management to stakeholders to establish a positive culture, is responsible for Environmental compliance across the account
Program manages and ensures effective outcomes for all Environmental Audit programmes, developing improvement plans and initiatives
Conducts industry best practice and horizon scanning to ensure CBRE and clients environment credentials are maintained in the top quartile
Conducts regular site-based audits, to ensure appropriate 1st and 2nd line controls are implemented
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all hazardous waste, trade effluent and other legal requirements are discharged appropriately
Accountable for ensuring all supply chain partners and outsourced solutions are delivered in-line with KPIs
Provides expert advice and support to all colleagues working on the account and within the clients team and businesses
Establishes and maintains links with key external agencies and peer organisation to benchmark our environmental management programmes and keeps up to date with leading practice in environmental management methodologies
Person Specification:
The Environment manager needs to be a solution-focused achiever. They should be able to cut through complexity and obstacles to get to the right ethical solution
They need to be forward thinking, ambitious in driving company and personal goals, outcomes and timelines
The Environment manager should be able to coach and influence all stakeholders to deliver and drive accountability as required to achieve outcomes
The Environment manager should coach and develop colleagues through audit programmes
They must act at all times as a collaborative partner, possessing excellent engagement and diplomacy skills with a strong ability to persuade and influence
They must be fully conversant with current environmental legislation and industry standards
Key skills/ qualifications needed:
Relevant degree or IEMA Qualification
Active Member of IEMA
ISO14001 Lead Auditor
Contractor and Supplier Management
Understanding of risk management and controls
Effective stakeholder management skills
Strong presentation, good verbal and written communication skills
Project management experience (Desirable)
