Job Description
People Group are recruiting on behalf of a long standing client within the Utilties, Rail & Civil Engineering Market. We are looking to hire a Graduate QS to join their team as soon as possible.
Location – Witham, Essex
Salary – £25,000 to £30,000 per annum (Reviewed annually)
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Working within Utilities and Rail team at our Witham office, the graduate will have the responsibly of supporting commercial and operational personnel. Our current utilities contracts are primarily in the Telecoms sector delivering FFTP services in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk counties
The role requires a professional individual who can engage with both internal and external stakeholders, has an understanding of forecasting, cost control, revenue capture and an ability to collaborate closely with colleagues in operational and commercial teams.
KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Tracking project’s progress and earned value
Processing Sub-Contractor payments and managing change.
Collate data pertaining to weekly site measures to ensure robust and accurate internal cost and external value
Monitor costs associated with operational activities.
Receiving and recording client payment certificates and purchase orders
Assist with client payment applications and client invoicing ensuring timely and accurate submission.
Support the Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyor as required
Engage and collaborate with Operational teams to establish a sound ongoing knowledge and understanding of operational progress and issues.
Carry out other duties not identified above and as required by the team.ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Previous experience working in the Construction sector desirable
Commercially aware with past knowledge of revenue maximization and cost control
Strong analytical skills and written communication.
Ability to identify and resolve problems at an early stage
A proactive and flexible hands-on approach with proven ability to work under own initiative and produce timely results
A strong attention to detail and a passion to produce accurate results.
IT literate and a good understanding and experience with MS office Applications, particularly Excel.
