Job Description
Head of SHEQ – Excellent Career Prospects – North West
I am currently working with a leading Engineering and construction company, widely considered a market leader within their sector. They specialise within large scale project delivery within the Nuclear, Defence, Rail sectors.
They are currently looking to recruit a Head of SHEQ, to join their senior management team, based out of their head office near Manchester (mixture of head office, WFH and some site visits).
As a business they are going through an exciting period of growth, and this Head of SHEQ role forms a key part of their management structure, focusing on the delivery of best practice with a focus on Safety, Health and quality.
They are ideally looking for someone with a HSE bias, but you will also oversee quality so you will need to have a good understanding of best practice within the quality environment.
Purpose and role responsibilities:
* Ensure safe working in company workplaces/project sites without harm to people, property of the environment.
* Provide management and advice at senior leadership level to the wider business.
* Ensure continuous improvement of safety, health and the environment.
* Actively encourage company best practice/core values.
* As Head of SHEQ, implement company, client and legislative requirements.
* Provide mentorship, coaching and advice to members of the H&S and quality team.
* Identify safety related training requirements for team members and the wider business.
* Line management responsibilities including leadership and guidance.
* Keep up to date on current and changing legislation in relation to SHEQ.
Skills and Qualifications:
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent in Health and Safety.
* Strong understanding of quality control and quality best practice
* Auditor/Lead Auditor qualified would be highly desirable
* Knowledge of UK Health, safety and environmental legislation
* Detailed knowledge of the construction sector.
* IOSH Membership would be desirable.
* Full UK driving licence
This Head of SHEQ role is based out of my clients head office near Manchester, and will be a mix of office based, WFH and site travel.
