Job Description
I am recruiting for a System Administrator for my client, one of the UK largest scientific organisation based in Kings Cross. You will be required to maintain and support all areas of physical and virtual operating systems including Windows server up to 2019 (including server core), Windows 10, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365 systems (Azure AD, Exchange Online, Endpoint Manager, Teams), email systems, SQL server, IIS server, Citrix, backup systems, antivirusmalware systems and printing services.
Main Duties include but are not limited to:
Provide third-line support for other members of the IT Infrastructure team and
wider IT department
Support virtualization environment (Hyper-V and VMware systems)
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a timely manner
Desktop application support including Office 365, Teams and Citrix environment
Exchange server administration
Participate in regular system maintenance programmes
Act as an escalation point for critical issues which occur outside of hours and assist
on-call staff where necessary
Support the roll out of new applications and assist with projects
Work within the team to provide recommendations for future improvements,
upgrades and version
To maintain up to date knowledge of all new features and functions within the
operating system environment
To prepare and maintain documentation for all areas of responsibility, including
SOP’s, user manuals, databases and any other information required by the Chief
Information Officer (CIO)
To respond to emergency requests for support in a timely manner and escalate
appropriately
To work with the visiting analyser/systems engineers as required
To partake of any other duties as required by the CIO
To be considered for this role you must possess:
Solid experience in similar role (at least 5 years)
Essential experience of Windows server, Linux and VMware
Desirable experience of Citrix, Office 365, Intune, SCCM
Good general standard level of education
Experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Windows server and desktop operating systems and configuring and maintaining Linux based systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly flexible and motivated
Team player and also work well on your own initiative
