Job Description
Role Purpose & Value
Deliver high quality transportation solutions for our customers through the effective communication with both customers and suppliers to ensure the customers’ needs are satisfied in relation to quality, cost and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1Execute transportation activities in accordance with all customer service requirements
2Adhere to operational margins by customer
3Ensure on-time delivery of cargo by tracking loads through to delivery and providing customer updates, where necessary
4Utilise problem solving tools to implement corrective actions with suppliers when needed
5Provide world class customer service, and take ownership for assigned customers
6Actively identify savings opportunities through load consolidation activities
7Communicate with shippers and suppliers to ensure maximization of container utilisation
8Enter accurate data into system for booking, tracking and billing shipments
9Complete invoicing to customers as per company standards
10Ensure all business is conducted in accordance with the company’s operational and safety procedures, as per the company Control Manual, and Delegation of Authority
Essential Qualifications & Experience
5 GCSE’s A-C or equivalent
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Ocean Freight operations within a freight forwarding company
Experience of Ocean freight trade-lanes and markets (Americas/APAC/Europe)
Operational experience of Ocean planning processes
Good knowledge of Marine Transport regulations
Ability to prioritise tasks and work under deadlines
Excellent communication skills – internal and external (written and verbal)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Logistics experience within control tower enviroment
Working knowledge of transport documentation, carrier invoices, and billing procedures
Ability to demonstrate analytical and logical thinking to solve problems
Experience in an automotive, manufacturing, or warehouse environment
Previous experience using Cargowise.
Essential Competencies
Proficient with computer systems, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
