MEP Project Manager Job in Plymouth
Job Description
Carmichael are looking for a MEP Project Manager to deliver MEP works for the main contractor on a major project in Plymouth. The work involves construction of new buildings with MEP install, all of which delivered to Nuclear Specification. The role is for a degree qualified mechanical or electrical engineer. The candidate must have experience of managing clients’ requirements, design, procurement, site construction, testing, commissioning and handover activities at a nuclear licensed site.
Duties and Responsibilities
Be responsible for the permanent and temporary MEP Works.
Establish the clients’ requirements
Produce a project plan for MEP Works
Identify, establish and assess the competence of the supply chain for the works.
Establish a MEP project team
Manage and coordinate MEICA design between consultant, suppliers and client.
Provide MEP engineering support to BIM – Revit/Navisworks models.
Advise on buildability
Identify and manage dependencies
Prepare and issue subcontract and supply only enquiry packages.
Procurement of MEICA Subcontracts, plant and equipment
Provide technical guidance and be able to recognise when external advice and support is required.
Provide MEP engineering support to planners and commercial department.
Oversee the coordination/ management of M&E construction and commissioning activities.
Ensure safe systems of work are in place for mechanical, electrical and process works.
Establish quality systems for the project.
Identify change and provide advice to commercial department.
The Individual
MSc/ BSc HND/ HNC/ ONC in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Experience of managing design, procurement, site construction activities and commissioning of services on a nuclear licensed site.
Must be able to break down the project into realisable activities for action by the team or third parties.
Must be able to monitor activities and record progress against the programme and be able to mitigate delay.
Must have experience of contract administration and be able to identify change.
Must have at least 10 years project management experience.
Must have a good technical background and be able to advise on design issues.
Must have good communications skills and be able to present to an assembly of people.
Be well organised.

Working Hours – 0800 to 1700hrs
Paid on a day rate – rate to suit experience
Ltd pay
Some flexible working – minimum of 3 days on site but rising to 5 days as the work progresses
