This fantastic nursery in South East London provides a caring and nurturing environment for children during those precious early years.

Nursery Manager
The aim of the post as a Nursery Manager is to provide leadership and management of the daily operation of the Nursery.
The Nursery manager has to ensure that the setting is operating in line with the vision and ethos of the Nursery and ensure the full implementation of all legal requirements stated in the Early Years Foundation Stage, especially on safeguarding, child protection and equal opportunities. The Nursery Manager will go about their duties with honesty and integrity and ensure the nursery's needs are always met.
At all times the nursery manager has to display a high level of integrity, enthusiasm, loyalty and motivation.
Nursery Manager
* opening times: 44 weeks/year; nursery closing times: 2 weeks Christmas break, 2 weeks Easter break, 4 weeks August, salary will be paid throughout the year, also during closing times.
* Salary: £36-40k depending on experience and qualifications
* Working hours: 4 days/week on Mondays – Fridays between 7.45am to 6.15pm in shifts of 9hours/day plus bi-weekly Team meeting, usually on Thursday evenings, from 7.15pm to 8.45pm via zoom.
Nursery Manager – Person Specification
A full and relevant Early Years NVQ Level 3 degree or higher.
Enhanced DBS Disclosure
Proven track record of at least 3 years working in a managerial role in a nursery with children aged 2 – 5 years.
Ability to lead a highly professional staff team by role modeling excellent teaching methods
Provide emotional care to children and staff team
Excellent understanding about the development of children aged 2-5 years
ability to reflect on nursery matters and personal development
ability to support the director in all aspects of the efficient and organised administration of
nursery matters.
excellent understanding of policies and procedures and track record of implementing them
in the daily routine
excellent understanding of children's development
ability to provide high quality, integrated early years education
skills and experience to supervise staff: recruitment, induction, training, counselling,
supervision and disciplining of staff.
commitment to theory and practice of equal opportunities.
awareness of health and safety issues in a nursery.
ability to work on own initiative.
ability to communicate effectively with agencies and parents and build up trustful
relationships.
ability to produce high quality reports/documents.

undertake regular training in management, First Aid, Safeguarding, Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, Special Educational Needs of children, Mental Health for children and adults and other subjects as appropriate.

managing a high-quality setting for children aged 2 to 5 years.
lead a highly motivated staff team, ensure that all staff
is properly recruited, trained and regularly
coached/supervised, as basis for excellent childcare and
low staff turnover.

provide high standards of childcare and education,

ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in
accordance with statutory requirements and nursery
procedures.
ensure confidentiality of all information received.
work in close cooperation with the director and ensure

noteworthy incidents & accidents and events
direct and support staff as agreed with the director.
deputise for the director in his/her absence.
undertake other duties and responsibilities of equivalent
nature as may be determined by the director.

lead a team of professional Early Years teachers/practitioners and ensure excellent practice at all times (role model excellent teaching and emotional
care for children to staff team)
ensure appropriate staff induction and regular
supervision
ensure excellent staff development opportunities:
training, appropriate roles (designated person, H&S
officer, outdoor lead, etc.).
ensure the supervision of students and volunteers
(delegate where appropriate).
maintaining staff awareness of the EYFS statutory
requirements and ensuring a safe and enjoyable working
environment for staff and children.
conduct staff meetings, planning meetings, parents’
evenings, fundraising events (if applicable) and training
sessions outside working hours, as required.
Parents/agencies liaise and facilitate close partnerships with
parents/carers to ensure that the particular needs of
each child are met and that parental choice is
considered in given care.
To liaise with outside agencies as required.
conduct show rounds for potential families and send out information.
ensure efficient maintenance of materials and equipment.
To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are
maintained at all times.
efficient upkeep of the building, indoor and outdoor
space and maintenance of equipment, furnishings and
fittings.
attend relevant training/conferences/meetings to
support professional and personal development
keeping up to date with childcare/education practice
and cascading to staff team
