Job Description
We are looking to recruit a Registered Nurse to work within a low secure prison setting focusing on Primary care. The role is to work within a prison for females aged 18 and over, in Wilmslow, Cheshire / Greater Manchester. We are seeking to appoint a Prison / Primary Care Nurse – RGN or RMN Qualified – to provide high quality care to offenders with physical and / or mental health needs.
The role as Primary Care Nurse role involves seeing offenders with new, or pre-existing medical conditions within a prison and your duties will include – undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, performing diagnostic tests as appropriate, and providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to meet their health needs.
We are looking for someone with lots of energy and an enthusiastic, "can do" attitude. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll be working closely with Mental Health and Substance Misuse services to optimise on-site care and you'll need to form working relationships with a wide range of partners. As Primary Care Nurse, you must have excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills.

As Primary Care Nurse you will demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of various health issues and treatment options, and have a keen interest in developing knowledge and skills across the integrated services.
The role is full time, working 39 hours per week – 3 x 13 hour shifts from 7.30am – 8.30pm. Hours can be flexible for people wanting shorter / alternate shifts. The salary is Band 5 equivalent – circa £26,000 – £33,000. There is also a Band 6 role available.
