Product Engineer
Our client is a precision engineering company providing high quality vacuum products and services for customers in science and semiconductor industry. They are currently looking for a Product Engineer to join their team in Hailsham.
The successful candidate will be responsible for one or more of our client’s product ranges, ensuring our client’s products are delivered on time, to specification and within budget and to the best DFMA principles.
Have you got demonstrable experience in CAD Design / Drawing and using this to provide manufacturing engineering support?
Are you great at project costing, quotation and root cause analysis?
Do you have a background in design engineering and experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)?

You will be responsible for owning the full lifecycle of one of our client’s product ranges including Product Development, Product Maintenance, Custom Design, NPI and Manufacturing Support:
Maintain project management processes and deliver development projects on budget and time
Perform feasibility study on select NPI’s
Providing manufacturing engineering support for the design and development team
Locate new and maintain existing supplier collaboration partners for Product Developments
Ensure all data is provided to Operations in the correct format
Root cause engineering problems and seek to eliminate
Provide engineering support for quotations and technical enquiries
Check detail drawings to BS 8888 (308)
Create BOM’s and planning sheets for new products & systems.
Provide timely production engineering support for custom orders to agreed deadlines
Carry out FMEA
Keep up to date with technical innovation in the UHV & manufacturing areas Essential Skills and Experience:
5+ years in a similar engineering role
Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
Experience in CAD design/drawing
Production Engineering of components and assemblies
ERP system familiarity including creating BOM’s
Project costing & quotation
Root cause analysis
Able to manage a diverse team & chair technical meetings (8D/Design reviews)
Need to be a naturally critical thinker (need to analyse, evaluate, and produce information to make objective judgements and recommendations.) Desirable Skills and Experience:
Experience of Microsoft Dynamics and MS Office products
Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or an HNC/D in Mechanical or Production Engineering

37-hour week, flexible working with a 12pm Friday finish
