Job Description
White Label is working with an engineering business in Shipley that have a requirement for a Graduate/Junior Project Design Engineer to join their team.
The role will be varied involving a mix of design working and project management tasks. You will be working very closely with the Engineering Manager and will therefore get a large amount of exposure to different parts of the engineering process.
My client predominately designs and manufactures heavy engineering-based products so it’s a great opportunity to be involved in large-scale engineering.
Responsibilities of the Project Design Engineer
* New product design from concept through to delivery
* Technical interface with client
* Prepares and maintains the design brief, design development programme and other engineering documents required by the project
* Involved in all aspects of design and detailing
* Control of documents to ensure that their status is defined and they are uniquely numbered, identifiable and retrievable
* Conduct design reviews as required by the design development programme and ensures that agreed actions are recorded and implemented
* Checking, approval and issue of drawings
* Integration of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic design
* Integration of multiple pieces of equipment into a coherent system
* Checking and approval of bills of materials to ensure all required components can be identified
* Prepare technical specifications for services and bought out items
* Technical liaison with subcontractors and suppliers
* Advises the Project co-ordinator of variations in scope of supply
* Assist within the sales team on technical aspects
* Internal progress reporting to the Project Manager on engineering tasks
Requirements of the Project Design Engineer
* Degree educated or similar in Mechanical Engineering
* A minimum of 12 months of industry experience (can be a placement year)
* 3D CAD design experience
* Willingness to do a varied role with a mix of tasks
Package
* A salary of up to £30,000 DOE
* 20 days holiday + bank holidays
* 37.5-hourur working week with flexibility around start and finish times
