Proactive are currently in search of a Safety and Reliability Engineer for a world leading Aerospace and Defence company based in Bristol. Your focus will be to support the team in understanding how the system or engine will deteriorate as it progresses through its life cycle and inevitably fail, evaluating what the resulting failure effects might be. You will need to understand how things can fail as well as how they work, to determine whether failures are theoretical, or we are responding to actual events, knowledge of failure mechanisms and identifying possible event scenarios is key for this role.

Salary: £40,000 – £53,000
Main Responsibilities:
You will be required to determine how engineering systems fail, then characterise those failures numerically using deterministic and probabilistic mathematical methods.
You will be influential in the design through understanding how failures will affect system operation. You will then be required to analyse the finished design, providing feedback on any impact this will have to the safety or reliability of the system.
Conduct Safety & Reliability Analysis using techniques such as Functional Hazard Assessment, FMECA, FRACAS, Fault Tree Analysis, Numerical Risk Assessment,
Update the Chief Engineer on the development and in-service risks that will impact the safety or reliability of his fleet.
Identify and numerically assess the causes of system rejections and provide them to the Services organisation to allow operational availability and cost to be managed.
Experience and Requirements:
Degree level education in a STEM subject or have experience within a relevant engineering industry such as Aeronautical, Electrical, Mechanical or Controls.
Other qualifications, coupled with relevant experience may be considered.
Experience in applying Reliability & Safety processes and tools e.g. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Hazard Analysis, Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
Experience or knowledge of Safety & Reliability engineering.
You will also be a Chartered Engineer or hold an affiliate / associate membership of a relevant professional body or be working towards Chartered/Incorporated status.
Experience with the operation, environment and design of gas turbine engines.
