Job Description
A successful, oversubscribed 'Outstanding' secondary school are seeking to appoint a teacher of Science to join a popular and forward-thinking Faculty.

MPS/UPSThe successful applicant will be committed to leading learning within the classroom, with high quality teaching and learning at its heart. You will be passionate about teaching Science and have a strong desire to develop pupils' interest in the subject. You will also be committed to ensuring that all pupils are given the best opportunities to succeed and use strategies that will ignite within each learner a strong desire to achieve their very best. The successful candidate will be able to enthuse, motivate and generate pupils' love for learning.
The department consists of 10 dedicated laboratories set over 2 floors. There are 2 prep rooms and 2 specialist technicians who are able to support carrying out a full range of practical work. The department is well equipped with a broad range of practical equipment which is continually updated and improved.
Their curriculum at KS3 is designed to ensure a smooth transition from KS2 whilst providing stretch and challenge for all. Focus has been placed on ensuring basic concepts are understood and then extended upon through rich tasks, problem solving and applying the learning in a variety of different contexts.
The Science department at the academy run an extensive extracurricular programme for all pupils – opportunities are provided for all pupils to experience STEM activities both in and out of the academy. They have a centralised behaviour system allowing consistent classroom strategies with low impact processes. Their culture is friendly and supportive, with a strong commitment to staff wellbeing and development. We have an active social calendar, including end of year trips, staff sporting fixtures and access to a free gym onsite.
Expectations of you and your responsibilities:
You will deliver content to at GCSE and A-Level
You will be responsible for the welfare and safeguarding of children within your class
Ensuring that the classroom is kept in a safe and presentable manner
Attendance parents evening and some extra-curricular activities and team meetings
Meeting deadlines for marking and providing feedback on work Minimum requirements to apply:
Hold a degree level qualification
You will have completed, or will are expecting to achieve, a post-graduate teaching qualification and have QTS
Successfully completing pre-employment checks, including DBS checks
