Job Description
JT Recruit are looking for a temporary HR Officer on behalf of our client, a local authority based in Beeston, Nottinghamshire.
This is a temporary role until December 2022 which could lead to a long term or permanent position. Working hours are 08:30am -17:00pm Monday to Thursday and 08:30am – 16:30pm on Fridays. There will be a mixture of homeworking and office-based work (Beeston), including flexible working.
The Role:
* Provide professional advice to managers and employees on all matters relating to employment including terms and conditions, policies and procedures with reference to employment law to ensure fair and consistent application, in accordance with national and local conditions of service and to encourage good employment practice.
* Provide guidance, advice and recommendations to line managers and employees on a day-to-day basis covering a wide range of HR issues which can be complex and contentious
* Provide comprehensive advice, support and recommendations on the Council’s Recruitment and Selection procedures
* Attending Disciplinary, Capability and Grievance hearings
* Provide advice on maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave entitlements etc, and ensure the appropriate correspondence is completed by employees and responded to by the Personnel section
* Support and advise managers on the Attendance Management policy and procedures and ways in which to reduce sickness absence levels
* Support managers and employers in the operation of the welfare function ensuring a pro-active approach is taken to health at work
* Assist with research, creation and recommend the implementation of relevant strategies, policies and procedures in response to new legislation, local government conditions of service, good practice and ACAS guidance, which also achieve corporate and directorate objectives.
* Completion of statutory statistical returns
* Drafting of reports, correspondence, memoranda, minutes and other documents
* Carry out any other duties that are within the scope and grading of the post which could also be requested by the Human Resources Manager
The Ideal Candidate:
* Excellent experience/knowledge within a HR environment
* Must have knowledge of policies, procedures and processes for HR and Business Support in order to advise and inform others
* Ideally from a local authority background but not essential
* Ability to offer practical HR advice and demonstrate sound HR knowledge
* Professionally qualified, ideally to Associate CIPD (intermediate level) or equivalent level of experience
* Will be required to attend satellite sites around the borough so own transport is essential.
Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour
