Job Description
A leading multi model logistics business is looking for a Transport Manager to join their Alconbury site. As Transport Manager you will be responsible for the running of the Transport team including permanent drivers, self employed drivers and planning staff. The role whilst operational will have a focus on managing the client relationships and have a heavy administrative responsibility.
As Transport Manager you will be responsible for the efficient and safe running of the transport function. You will be required to monitor all driver activity ensuring that KPIs are met, health and safety adhered too and all legal compliance is in order. Driver welfare is paramount to the success of the business and so you will be responsible for ensuring any issues are resolved and that drivers feel valued.
You will be required to assist with driver inductions; monitoring of the fleet and the health and safety practices. The role will also require substantial administrative duties such as legal compliance; driver wages and running regular KPIs reports in regard to driver performance; fleet maintenance and general efficiency including eco-driving.
The ideal candidate will have worked as a Transport Manager previously with experience working with a HGV fleet and both permanent and self employed drivers. An international CPC licence is desired but not essential for the role. This will be a very hands on role and will require someone who is organised; able to lead a diverse team and previous experience dealing with driver administration.
The working hours will be Monday – Friday working day shift hours usually 10 hour shifts with start times from 6am-9am. There will be some flexibility required as to the working hours due to the nature of the role. Additionally there will be some cover required 1 in 4 Saturdays. On offer is a salary of £35,000 – £40,000 per annum and the opportunity to join a leading logistics business. There is also opportunity for further training and development
