Job Description

Joining Ogi is a unique opportunity to work within an innovative Welsh business and one of the fastest-growing companies in Wales.

For many years, we've been providing mainstream internet and IT services as Spectrum Internet and Net Support UK. We rebranded to Ogi to represent our dedication to Welsh communities and received a significant multi-million-pound investment to deliver a large-scale and ambitious rollout of full-fibre internet across South Wales.

As we continue to grow quickly, we are looking for a Junior Engineer to join our Service Operations team and advance into our Fault Engineer position. We are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds for this position, which will become a crucial one for our Service Operations team.

About you…
You will be fully trained and grow in the role to become the first point of contact for Service Operations engineers and our customer care team.
This advert is geared towards someone a little more junior but bear in mind we place a strong emphasis on attitude, passion for technology, and the idea that "it's okay" is never good enough.

We want to talk to people who are eager to learn and advance; you might have some experience in a role that is somewhat related to networking but not particularly specialised; you might be sitting at a networking support desk excited to advance in the field, or you might be a service operations engineer keen to see how the larger network functions and looking to advance. You could even be someone with a solid academic foundation looking for their first role to advance with. We are open to the right person rather than someone who checks off all the boxes.

It would be great if you have experience working in something similar but some attributes we’re looking for include –
* Proven experience in troubleshooting or problem investigation skills
* Comfortable in being customer facing
* Excellent attention to detail
* High level of verbal and written communication skills
* Basic experience in IT with a basic understanding of networks (IP, LAN/WAN, Cisco).
* Knowledge of Fibre installation / Services

As you take on this role and advance, you’ll learn more about and become an SME in –
* Nokia OLT/ONT
* Microsoft Dynamics & Netadmin
* VOIP management platforms & Services
* Passive Optical Network (PON) architecture
* LAN WAN technologies such as Ethernet IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN
* Routers, Wifi & mesh systems

You’ll also need a full, clean UK Driving Licence and we require all engineers to undergo a BPSS background check.

What you’ll be doing…
Ultimately you will be responsible for ensuring we are trusted technology partners, always projecting our company culture and values.

You’ll be investigating problems across a range of OSS/BSS and networking tools. You’ll also become the main point of contact for Service Operations engineers installing services to customers as well as to the Customer Care team requesting technical investigation for post-installation faults.

We’re creating a virtual team across Network Operations, Customer Care and IT teams so you’ll spend a fair amount of time at our state-of-the-art Network Operations Centre (NOC) in Central Cardiff but will travel regularly to provide support and training to engineers in the field.

We are looking for talented people with the potential to learn and progress. Part of your daily & weekly tasks will be reviewing alarms, ONT performance and assessing and monitoring customers to support the reduction in early life failures. Other responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Onsite and remote technical Maintenance support of the Ogi Active & Passive Network
* Service restoration during network incidents
* Help improve end-users productivity by completing triage, offering advice, teaching, and developing solutions to common challenges with office products and capabilities.
* Provide remote on-call support for Network issues
* Project support for expansion or ongoing Network Changes
* Act as technical escalation support for Service Ops and Customer Care teams.
* Collaborate with other teams to ensure problem resolution is obtained and, if necessary, the root cause is identified.
