As a 4PL subsidiary of a leading global logistics provider in Automotive, CAT VM UK is part of the leading international service providers in the field of outbound automotive logistics in Europe.
As an experienced automotive expert, you will be working as the Operations Manager providing a fourth party logistics service to one of the top four Global Automotive Manufacturers.
The Operations Manager has a very varied role and requires someone who is extremely well organised and familiar with how a freight forwarding business operates, and requires someone with an outgoing personality and experience of negotiating with external suppliers and maintaining business relationships, confident with leading a team and developing talent.

Key responsibilities
Responsible for all areas of supply chain management through to end service to the customer
Direct and lead the supply chain team to deliver targets and customer service levels
Develop and maintain business relationships with carriers / suppliers and subcontractors
Negotiate contracts with suppliers and customers
Oversee storage, handling and distribution
Orchestrating supply chain movements through the operational team
Hands-on experience of RFQ and spot buy transport resource
Service level management
Supplier and customer performance KPIs review meetings
Capacity planning ensuring compounds and logistic providers have sufficient allocated resource to meet forecasted volumes
Quality management of all 4PL's
Staying alert to new trends in the sector
Process improvement focus is essential, look for waste We are looking for
Minimum 5 years supply chain management / logistics contracts manager experience
Freight Forward knowledge
Fourth party logistics (4PL) knowledge advantageous
Strong leadership skills
Knowledge of transport methods, costs, and benefits
Demonstrated understanding of operational procedures on Freight Forward and Logistics
Strong understanding over procurement processes
Strategic thinker for long term planning, excellent tactical agility
A calm communicator at all levels to encourage confidence to achieve progression
Enthusiastic and driven to achieve targets and objectives
Excellent attention to detail
Good communication skills in English. Some knowledge of French may be helpful
Confident approach, engaging others
Solution-oriented action and hands-on mentality
