Programme Manager Job in London
Job Description
Description:
Firm/Project:
• AI SaaS company
• They are integrating another business they bought and are looking for a programme manager to support this
• A lot of the work will involve infrastructure but they need someone with broad technology understanding including applications as well
• Building infrastructure, physical hardware, deploying 0365, moving legacy colocations into the cloud, migrating data over to SaaS platforms…
• They are in the process of building out their EMEA business – they are hiring a permanent EMEA Head of Infra currently who this hire will report into
Requirements:
"Generally, the Prgm Mgr skills & experience should cover: retrofitting 3-5 offices with networks/ basic IT stand-up/FDOB, turning up O365, and equipment for users. Building new DC CoLo or transitioning existing to Azure/AWS. Management of MSPs doing the bulk of the technical execution. User change management/training/comms planning. Driven to time, finds solutions and solves risks before they materialize, strong opex/capex acumen, working global hours."
• An experienced programme manager, c.5-10 years’ experience, strong programme management/project management skills
• Someone who has worked in integrations previously, worked in acquisitions/mergers, understands methodologies
• They need infrastructure experience, but also an understanding beyond that as well, including an appreciation of applications
o Mentioned Office 365, Cloud, Data; but said that If someone is very heavily infra-focused, they won’t know the right application questions to ask
• Needs to have broad knowledge/skills – work across infra domain, understand the first day of business in standing up a new office, understand engineers in terms of moving from colo to a cloud, understand moving data from salesforce to salesforce…
• Don’t need to be very technical, but effective in those domains and types of conversations, and the choices that need to be put in front of management in terms of integration
o Someone will say – “we need to do this” – and they need to say “why”
o The integration work is important – wouldn’t expect them to have an opinion on e.g. AWS vs Azure vs GCP, but expect them to ask engineers “why?”, “how do we cut the time?”, “could we do this differently?”
