Job Description
Quantity Surveyor
Fawkes and Reece are currently assisting a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor in their search for 2x Quantity Surveyors to join their Western office. Due to a successful period of winning work, our client is looking to take on 2 Quantity Surveyors, on a permanent basis, to work on two projects near Oxford. They need a Quantity Surveyor to assist the lead surveyor on a £30mil new build school and another to assist the lead Surveyor on the next phase of a research and development project, valued £25mil. The contractor is one which works on prestigious projects across the education, healthcare, commercial and leisure sectors with projects valuing anywhere up to £100mil.
A Quantity Surveyor your duties will include but not be limited to:
Financial reporting and control
Continually monitor and review, in detail costs and values of the works at hand.
Commercial forecasting
Ensure that the financial reports are produced and submitted in line with the company's reporting timetable.
Attend regular review and commercial control meetings.
Liaise closely with the Design and Project Management leads to ensure cross control
Management of Risk
Management of contract variations
Contract Review and production Meetings
Main Contract and External Valuations and Final Accounts
Management of Consultants and Subcontractors
Feedback to the Commercial manager of any price elements or unit prices which are considered to be seriously at variance with cost, giving details of shortfall.
Provide constructive comments on improving efficiency
The ideal Quantity Surveyor will have:
A construction related degree/equivalent qualification
Strong Main Contractor background
Experience procuring and managing packages of a sizeable scale
Strong working knowledge of JCT forms of contract (NEC is beneficial but not essential)
The right to work in the UK and live within a commutable distance to Oxford
