Job Description
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation with offices across Scotland, is currently looking to recruit a Research Analyst for an initial 5 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £200-£213/day (inside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances this role will be a hybrid of working at home and the office.
Responsibilities:
-Provide a key role in the delivery of programme objectives, reporting requirements and the provision of a professional statistical analysis and reporting service, including preparation of reports for internal/external publication.
-Produce and publish high quality reports that co-ordinate and provide analysis of research data, including the use of data collection tools and mechanisms such as sampling and appropriate statistical methodologies for interpreting results.
-Manage, coordinate and analysis of research data, using a range of software tools, data collection tools and mechanisms to create useful analysis including sampling and appropriate methodologies for interpreting results.
-Contributing to recommendations on whether the organisation needs to develop a staffing method.
-Contributing to a review of how workforce data in the organisation is collated and analysed and consult with the organisation to make recommendations for change.
-Work to the Code of Practice for Official Statistics in producing high quality statistical publications which meet the needs of a wide range of users both within the organisation and outside.
-Providing advice on methodology, including sampling and appropriate analysis and presentation of data.
-Provide advice to decision-makers on findings, including data quality, data collection and reporting
Essential Skills:
-Using a range of analytical methods to gain insight from complex data.
-Apply skills to access and manipulate large data from a variety of sources as well as identifying data inconsistencies and ensuring data quality.

-Educated to Degree level of above in a subject with a significant numeric component
-High level of data management and manipulation skills.
-Effective written and oral communicator

-Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Access and Excel (including use of pivot tables and macros).
-Advanced data, statistical and analytical skills.
-Experienced user of statistical software.
-Experience of use of business Intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI,).
-Articulate and positive communicator on a 1-1 basis and in larger groups.
-Effective written skills.
-Ability to express complex ideas clearly and concisely and to adapt communication to suit different audiences.
-Demonstrates ability to influence at all levels
-Ability to give realistic advice, based on relevant, up to date and verifiable information
-Evidence of building positive relationships, engaging and collaborating effectively with others internally and externally.
-Identifies gaps in performance and makes appropriate suggestions for improvements

Desirable Skills:
-Research experience.
-Web Development experience.
-Knowledge and experience of using Lotus Notes.
-Knowledge of relevant national data sources including open data.
-Understanding of the official statistics Code of Practice.
