Job Description

Title: Saturday Buddy / Support Worker

Location: Willesden, NW6

Nearest Station: Brondesbury Park

Wage/Salary: £17.00 Gross Per Hour

Driver Essential? Yes, an automatic adapted vehicle is available for taking Josh to activities around London

Essential: Experience supporting a client with a physical disability such as cerebral palsy and a confident driver. Only open to *Male candidates.

Start Date: September 2022

Days & Hours: Saturday 11.00am to 7.00pm (flexible for the Support Worker to work the occasional Sunday instead)

Family/Client Pets: 2 friendly dogs which Josh regularly takes out for walks

About this client/child:

Josh 28 is a bright, engaging, and charismatic young man with many interests and hobbies! Theatre, musicals, sailing and skiing to name just a few! Josh has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user (manual), he communicates extremely well through speech and uses Eye Gaze technology to operate his computer. There will be no personal care involved as Josh has a catheter in place. Josh lives at his family home which has been fully adapted for his needs, there is a stair lift and ceiling hoists available.

Overview of role:

This is a dynamic and fun position for a *Male Buddy / Support Worker to spend time with Josh on a Saturday and enable him to participate in the hobbies and interests he loves of which there are many! Josh is always out and about sailing, skiing, visiting family, eating out and attending West End shows. As part of your role, you’ll assist Josh in planning these activities and help facilitate these for him. The family would also be happy to consider someone working alternate Saturdays if the Buddy / Support Worker was unable to commit to working every Saturday.

Who this job would suit:

A proactive, engaged and energetic *Male Buddy / Support Worker with similar interests and passions as Josh such as tech, computers, music, films, musicals and most importantly a person who will continually promote Josh’s independence. You must be a confident driver as this role involves driving in and around London.
