The role will involve 1:1 support for children with a range of additional needs, and also small groups of pupils working with teachers to plan for the individual needs of our SEN pupils. Having suitable primary school experience will help to further support your application. However, experience with SEN is highly considered. This position is perfect for someone who is pro-active, enthusiastic and can use their initiative when needed. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant must have:
Experience with Special Educational Needs
Experience of working with or caring for children
Strong behavioural management skills (preferred)
Be committed to promoting high standards in learning
Be able to start in September 2022
A clear DBS
Main Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant
To provide learning support for pupils in class or in 1:1 situations
To develop knowledge of the particular needs of the children and seek advice from the SENCo
Supporting small groups of children
Helping to support children with SEN
Be enthusiastic and motivated
Supporting and encouraging pupils in their schoolwork
