Senior Cost Planner 5 – Manchester
My client, an innovative UK based Engineering Consultancy which specialises in Civil, Structural and Infrastructure Engineering, is searching for a Cost Engineering Estimator to join an established team of Engineers based in Manchester to work on High Speed 2.

As a Cost Engineering Estimator, you will:
Produce estimates in an efficient and time kept manner.
Produce multi-option estimates for optioneering and sifting.
Check and amend estimates produced by others.
Complete value management and value engineering processes.
Administering the assurance process for programme estimates.
Develop cost models for elements of the programme.
Carry out benchmarking of estimates.
Be responsible for producing and evaluating estimates on a publicly funded programme.
Liaise with clients, pursuing working relations.
Present clients with written estimating reports.
Carry out research on rates.
Contribute to value studies and optioneering.
Mentor junior staff when required due to the team expanding.This role offers flexibility in location and can be performed from home; however, you will be required to travel to offices in Birmingham and London from time to time.
It is essential that applicants have experience:
MEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
Experience in civil estimating including schemes with a bulk earthworks' element and significant experience of cost estimating of structures at design stage.
Ability to develop estimates from outline designs.
Experience using CCS Candy software to produce estimates.
Ability to work in a team.
Ability to operate within a large multi-disciplinary team interfacing with designers, planners, and environmental specialists.
Knowledge of cost planning techniques for financial control of projects during design development stages.
Experience using Excel.
Experience of working in an environment where quality assurance processes are applied.
Additional useful skills
Familiarity with estimating systems especially Cost OS.
Proficient in use and application of cost modelling and bench marking techniques.
Experience and knowledge of whole life costing.
Some experience of carbon estimating.
Membership of a relevant professional institution.
